Why Sync Clover to QuickBooks?
If you run a restaurant on Clover and use QuickBooks Online for accounting, you know the routine. Every morning, someone pulls yesterday's numbers from Clover and types them into QuickBooks — categories, payment types, tips, taxes. It takes 20-30 minutes on a good day, longer if you're catching up on a backlog.
SalesToBooks handles that automatically. Connect once, and your daily sales show up in QuickBooks every morning without you touching a keyboard.
What You'll Need
- A Clover POS account with at least one location
- A QuickBooks Online account (any plan)
- About 5 minutes
Step 1: Create Your SalesToBooks Account
Head to salestobooks.com and sign up for the free 30-day trial. Just an email and a password.
Step 2: Connect Clover
From your dashboard, click Connect POS and pick Clover. You'll land on Clover's authorization page — log in, approve access, and you're connected. SalesToBooks only needs read access to your sales data. The whole thing takes about 30 seconds.
Step 3: Connect QuickBooks
Click Connect Accounting and pick QuickBooks Online. Same flow — log into Intuit, approve access. SalesToBooks is Intuit-approved and listed on the QuickBooks App Store, so your accountant won't raise an eyebrow.
Step 4: Map Your Categories
SalesToBooks pulls your Clover categories (food, beverage, retail, etc.) and your QuickBooks chart of accounts. Map each Clover category to the right QuickBooks account. We suggest common mappings to speed this up.
Do the same for payment types: cash, credit card, gift card — each maps to a QuickBooks account.
Step 5: Done
Tomorrow morning, SalesToBooks fetches yesterday's sales from Clover, formats them as a Sales Receipt with line items per category, and posts it to QuickBooks. No manual work. No spreadsheets. It just runs.
What Gets Synced
- Daily sales summary by category
- Payment type breakdown (cash, credit, gift card)
- Tips and service charges
- Tax collected
- Refunds and discounts
What If Something Goes Wrong?
We monitor every sync. If something fails — an expired token, a rate limit, anything — we detect it automatically, open a ticket, and a developer (not a support agent) investigates. Most issues get resolved before you notice them.
